JUNIOR DESIGNER

Our boutique firm, located in Winchester, Massachusetts, provides concierge-level service for our clients’ new builds and gut renovations. You will report directly to Kristen, who will mentor you in the design and management systems she has perfected over two decades in the business. How far you go with this position is up to you.
Ours is a small, collaborative, and fast-paced office where you could be doing anything—from establishing warm rapport with a new high-end client to rendering millwork specs for a historic home. You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the polish and poise to represent the firm. Junior Interior Designer
The Junior Interior Designer will assist the Sr designer /Principal in achieving client fulfillment for contracted design projects, meet business objectives, and work in a professional manner to maintain standards of performance specific to KRID, LLC. Junior Designer reports directly to Sr Designer/Principal on project work and to Studio Manager for office related work.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Design:
Produce floor plans, elevations, millwork drawings, presentation boards, sketches, 3D renderings and other visuals necessary for project completion using established KRID standard formats
Research and source furniture, lighting, fabric, wallpaper and interior finishes within project budget and aesthetic based on established master plan. Create fabric tags for presentation.
Assist Sr Designer/Principal on the design and development of all projects. Attend client meetings and take detailed meeting notes. Email to client and other necessary project team members.
Create Requests for pricing (RFP) for all approved items (using established KRID standard formats) for custom furniture & window workrooms, create proposals for approval and furniture spec sheets for client & office binders of approved items.
Accompany Sr Designer/Principal when necessary to shop, meet with clients & vendors
Submit design changes to Sr Designer/Principal for approval
Generate orders in Design Manager based on client approved proposals and deposits received. Track orders and communicate immediately any pricing or lead time discrepancies to Principal and Bookkeeper.
Submit budget changes to Sr Designer/Principal for approval
Solve problems related to purchase orders, custom designed FF&E, materials, installations related to a design project and present solutions to Sr Designer/Principal
Maintain Client & office binders. Ensure project binders (client & office) are updated with any tear sheets, customization notes, specifications and drawings
Create FF & E schedule, Wall finish schedule and Lighting schedule (using KRID standard formats) for project and update weekly if required. Communicate any changes/issues immediately with Principal and project team.
Coordinate with warehouse as items arrive and schedule pick up/drop off at work rooms, delivery and installations at job site. Assist Sr Designer/Principal in oversight of project installation, prepare and bring Install Day kit, create plans/signage for job site
Communicate with bookkeeper to review client deposits and balance due requests from vendors regarding orders and determine what is ready for client invoicing.
Schedule and meet with vendors. Maintain and add to resource materials library. Maintain office cleanliness & organization at all times. Maintain vendor relationships and keep an eye out for new vendors/artisans to collaborate with. Protection of KRID resources is expected at all times.
Receive and place phone calls for office and project work.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, attending Trade Shows and seminars, actively read Trade and Design publications, networking and using online research resources.
Assist with photoshoot coordination, sourcing, styling and onsite facilitation as delegated by Principal
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Interior Design; Internship or 1-3 year work experience in an interior design or architecture firm
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Sketch Up, Adobe Design Suite is a must. Knowledge of Design Manager good, but not required
Be self-motivated, passionate about all things design and able to prioritize tasks and work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Work efficiently in a timely manner and be proactive in project work.
Must possess a keen attention to detail and high level of organization. Have an endless curiosity to explore new materials and ideas
Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to communicate professionally with clients and vendors
Ability to multi-task and efficiently work on multiple projects concurrently
Diplomacy and discretion are required at all times
